Computer Vision: The Free Online Class Has Begun

MxGC90WOndQ

Back in late February, I told you that Jitendra Malik, Arthur J. Chick Professor of EECS at the University of California at Berkeley, was planning on shortly beginning a free online course on computer vision. Well, that time is now. Here is the content of an email we received yesterday:

The computer vision course is now live. The introductory lecture is posted, and that will be all for this week. This lecture includes an outline of the course.

Starting next week, there will be multiple lectures each week with embedded quizzes. The course will run for 10 weeks, concluding the last week of June.

The discussion forum for the course is live as well. Please click on the link below to get started.

Note that your earlier registration was just to get updates about the class. Please complete the final course registration by clicking on "Join Class" and registering for an account at the link above.

Welcome to the course. Computer vision is a fascinating field, with deep scientific underpinnings as well as significant practical applications, and I hope you will enjoy our exploration of the fundamentals of this subject.

As background, if you haven't already done so, I encourage you to check out Embedded Vision Alliance Founder Jeff Bier's three-part interview with Professor Malik last fall (EVA site registration or login for already-registered visitors is required in order to view the video; here are the links to part two and part three).

Here you’ll find a wealth of practical technical insights and expert advice to help you bring AI and visual intelligence into your products without flying blind.
