This position is for a Senior Software Engineer/Scientist specialized in Motion Planning. For this position, we are looking for a person with a broad understanding of autonomous navigation in general and a strong expertise in motion planning algorithms. As a core member of our AI Division, you will work with our world-class team of engineers and scientists to build a platform for the next generation of intelligent machines. Your experience will be pivotal in advancing our mission: safe and reliable robots everywhere.

What you need

  • M.S. in computer science, Software engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years experience (industry experience)
  • Strong theoretical knowledge of various motion planning algorithms: search-based, optimization-based, randomized and others.
  • Up-to-date with recent developments in Reinforcement Learning 
  • Strong experience in 2D Path Planning for robotics or self-driving systems
  • Extensive programming experience in Python and C++  in Linux environment 
  • Understanding of kinematic and dynamic vehicle models
  • Ability to produce computationally efficient software that can meet real-time requirements
  • Extensive experience converting publications to actual implementations
  • Strong background in software design, prioritizing testability and reusability of the algorithms

Things that make the difference

  • Ph.D in Computer Science, Software engineering or a related field
  • Experience designing and developing robotic systems using a robotic middleware (such as ROS), and existing libraries and tool
  • Experience with continuous integration, Agile and Scrum methodology, deployment and release management tool
  • Experience launching products containing machine learning algorithms
  • Knowledge of developing safe and optimal control systems

Th​is position is located in our San Diego headquarters and reports to the Director of R&D.
