OK, maybe this topic will draw more people into the Forums...
At E3 this week, Microsoft and Bioware showed off the Kinect interface for EA's Mass Effect 3. The previous version of the game shipped 2 million units -- just in the first week. This game has a huge development budget, so they should be pushing the Kinect to the limit. The video is interesting for what it doesn't show. They use the Kinect for audio input -- not computer vision.
The technical question is whether a gesture-based user interface is the wrong technology for an application like this, or is the problem that the first-generation Kinect isn't advanced enough?

OK, Kevin Krewell of The Linley Group sent me a link to another E3 video, showing the forthcoming Star Wars game. I made it a News item. Could it be that swords and light sabers are the perfect match for embedded vision?
